  • Gnetum montanum

    Very Limited Supply

Grown primarily as an ornamental.  A tropical evergreen shrub staying relatively small, perfect for container growing. Traditional uses in their native lands are using the fibers to make fishing nets and  ropes.  It is thought that plants in this genus may have been the first plants to be insect pollinated.  Their fossils occur in association with extinct pollinating scorpionflies. Historical dispersion of this seed has been by sea water.  Protect from frost.

This plant is found from  subtropical to tropical regions, growing in both areas of high and low rainfall. Requires a moist, well-drained soil in full sun.

Buyers should do their own research for plant uses.
