Rhododendron arboreum - Large Flower
NOTE: seeds are VERY Tiny
This evergreen shrub produces a gorgeous display of bright red flowers that is not easily forgotten and are the perfect accent to forest green leaves. This is the largest of all Rhododendrons.
Likes well drained, moist soil, slightly acidic. Prefers some shade. Perfect for woodland gardens. Keep away from high wind areas.
A breathtaking ornamental for temperate and warm temperate climates in USDA Zones 8 and above otherwise grow as a container plant and bring indoors when cold weather looms.

1. The name Rhododendron comes from the greek words "rodon" which means "rose" and "dendron" which means "tree", hence Rose Tree
2. Rhododendron was discovered by The 16th century Flemish botanist Charles l'Ecluse
3. Rhododendron is the national flower of Nepal
This is a tropical plant, well worth the effort of growing, and does very well in containers. Cannot tolerate frost and must be brought indoors or to a protected area. Will be able to remain in a container for up to 5 years before transplanting. Needs good drainage.
