A large deciduous climing shrub grown for it twisting and twinging branches that weave in and out of light green foliage of heart shaped leaves. Female flowers are solitary while male flowers bloom in clusters. Traditionally the above ground roots are used as cordage for tying. This plant is the larval host plant for the Clipper butterfly.
