This variety is an All-America Selections winner for 1962. Burgundy leaves are tender and intensely flavored. Anise flavor with an undertone of ginger is present for a more savory style of herb. Its highly aromatic, and is more stable at high and extended cooking temperatures than other basil varieties. Great for use in many styles of cooking in addition to Italian recipes.

Plant with green basil for a beautiful contrast to the herb garden.

Use for garnish, salads and oil and vinegar infusions.
