    • Burpee introduced this variety in 1902
    • Before this only white corn was considered edible and yellow was for livestock
    • In 1890 William Chambers bred this variety to be the earliest specialty corn where he sold it at road side stands
    • Golden Bantam quickly rose to the top since it sprouted in cool soil better than all other corns of the time
