    Note: Seeds are separate from the pod/capsule- Many think that the pod is a seed but the seed will look like a flake or "half Seed" - see pic for more details- this is how nature made them and how the seed becomes when mature and dry.

     

    An abundance of fragrant white flowers accent lush green foliage and flaky gray bark on the small tree or shrub. The plant is aromatic attracting pollinators like butterflies and hummingbirds. The bright white flowers are painted with an orange - red center and grow in clusters of seven. Grow as a tropical or tender perennial. Attractive to some birds. The show of flowers begins at dusk and close at dawn.

    1. The name Nyctanthes arbor-tristis means "night flowering jasmine"
    2. The tree is sometimes called the "tree of sorrow", because the flowers lose their brightness during daytime

    4. The flower is the official flower of the state of West Bengal, India, and for Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand
