Widely cultivated as an ornamental, it is often used in bonsai culture as well as houseplant and greenhouse culture. The fern like leaves close up on cloudy days to let the rain fall through. Leaves close up at night. Flowers bloom in exotic pink puffs most heavily in late spring through summer. Perfect as a bonsai specimen as well as standards and as a container plant.
